Frequently asked questions.

Answered plainly, like everything else here.

Is it really free?

Yes — MIT license, no credit card. Lookups, paste-a-list, build sheets, what-it-fits, end-of-life clocks, Excel export: free.

Where does the data come from?

OEM part data, government registries, broker-verified lists, and connected partners. Every fact carries its source and trust tier. No mystery data.

What's the catch / what's paid?

The desktop app is the free reference. The paid side is our complete IT suite at partstable.com: sales, lead capture, quotations, ERP integration, Requests for Quotation, e-commerce, couriers and tracking. Details: the IT suite.

Does it work offline?

Yes — the reference ships with the software and answers from your machine, instantly.

What data leaves my computer?

Nothing but an optional update check (app version + OS + anonymous install ID), switchable off in Settings. No query logging, no part numbers sent.

Do I need an account?

A free account (email, no card) for community ratings; lookups work from minute one.

Which ERPs does the paid integration support?

Bring your own — or use ours; both are open source. Whole-company multi-part search, no extra ERP user IDs, no per-user fees from us, ever.

Can I script it?

Yes — same binary: partstable lookup, fits, buildsheet, bulk on the command line, plus a localhost REST interface. --json everywhere.

Why does every fact carry a citation?

Because this industry has run on memory and stale screenshots long enough. Every claim class carries measured precision with published sample sizes — we never round up.
